The Maiden And The Selkie

The Maiden And The Selkie

…once a fair and handsome seal lord lay his foot upon the sand,
for to woo a fisher’s daughter and to claim her marriage hand:
“I have come in from the ocean I have come in from the sea
and I’ll not go to the waves, love, lest ye come along with me.”

( The Maiden and The Selkie,

Draugar are cursed evil ghosts from the scandinavian folklore, they’re said to move trough rocks and solid things like swimming, increase their size and weight at will and drive animals and people mad by their only presence. If a Draug kills someone, sometimes that person could become a cursed ghost too.

I know these ones look rather a bit ridiculous than scary, by the way, this was the best I could do, and the ones I had drawn before they were far worse.
In some fens adn turbary of the North and Central Europe several mummies of celtic and germanic people have been found through years, I thought that some mummy-zombie enemies would have rather fit the story and location.

Andvarnaut page 3, colored

I’m still not brilliant with digital color, all the green has turned out more like grey by charging this on the internet, and also the brown of the wood is too light and grey-like looking…well, I shall try to color this again, sooner or later, for I rather like this page, I think it would turn out quite good looking with a better coloring.

Bjorn’s father and part of his crew…I had a lot of fun drawing them, even if took me some time and patience, for I wasn’t so good at drawing not young, rough men, and what about making their clothes all different……..
some of them quite remind me of How To Train Your Dagon’s people, especially the blacksmith, he reminds me a lot of Gobber…I love that movie ^^

I tried to make reference to a real French Abbey, here, Notre-Dame de Fontaine-Guérard’s Abbey, in the region of Normandy. it doesn’t really look like that, I fear, but that was my idea, anyway it quite looks like an abbey, at least.
